PhotoPro Electronics is a small dedicated designer and manufacturer of professional flash equipment. We started life 22 years ago, servicing all the major brands of flash equipment available in Australia. Then, in 1985, after requests from several of our clients, we decided to design our own Australian made equipment. This led to the original PRO SERIES 2200 and 4000 W/s floor packs, with the unique ability to be configured to accept most major brands of Flash heads, These were welcomed with open arms , despite a vicious campaign by most of the major importers, to denigrate our products, we flourished, Thirty years ago very few people bought Australian goods. There was “snob” value about European products. Slowly, but steadily Australians came to realize that their product was as good, if not better, than that offered in other parts of the world. In terms of value for money it is unbeatable.

In 1990 we were joined by Malcolm Summons, who has a lot of design and engineering experience in micro processors. This led to the PRO SERIES GT microprocessor controlled floor packs, and shortly after, the PRO SERIES 1200 and 600 W/s Micro processor Monoblocs. These have features incorporated as standard, like automatic bracketing, something not seen in any imported models until recently.

With the recent addition of the DINGO battery/mains pack, we now offer a product equally at home in a paddock, or in the studio, true flexibility.

Photopro has continued to design and supply products for government agencies such as high power Strobes, with incredibly short flash durations, for universities and various CSIRO departments. Together with Safe T Cam flash units for the Road Traffic Authority in NSW, which have been installed over freeways to photograph trucks, These are just some examples to illustrate our design capabilities.

Photopro has never had any association with any manufacturer of flash equipment, and does not source any of the parts needed to make our equipment from them. All of our products have been designed to last, and to ensure that, all the components we use are top quality, and sourced locally, except for the flash capacitors, which are made for us by SIEMENS in Germany, and the flash tubes, which are made to our specifications, by the same company that Elinchrom and Broncolour use.
